The nature reserve is the protected area of protecting the natural resources and its unique landscape. Its establishment contributes to biodiversity Protection. It not only is the inevitable requirement for sustainable development of human society, but also the necessary measures to maintain the ecological health and protect the natural environment. Recently, because of Shanxi Province continuing to increase the construction intensity of nature reserve, the number of nature reserves and the scale is increasing, and the containing information is also becoming increasingly complexity, but the accompanying information management lags behind, lack of modern information management techniques. Therefore, the traditional information management system of nature reserve could not have met the daily information management work of nature reserves, urgently needing to Modern information management system. With the development of the information technology, it is the general trend that nature reserves’ information becomes digital Management. Based on these backgrounds, the theoretical research, designing and developing of establishing information management system on Shanxi Province Nature Reserves, which has important theoretical and practical significance.Against the information management situation of Shanxi Province Nature Reserve, based on the ideas and methods of software engineering, conducted a feasibility analysis and demand analysis, proposed the overall framework of information management system in Shanxi Province Nature Reserve, designed multiple functional modules of system, using component GIS technology to achieve the layer management function module function. This study has achieved the following results:(1) Requirements analysis:Through analysis needs, for users, system should meet the full-featured, easy to operate, and to establish the information library should cover a wide range of requirements; for the functional requirements, the system should have the basic information database, a powerful analysis capabilities of GIS systems, the production of thematic maps and data analysis; for the performance, the system should be designed with simple and beautiful interface that can be stored to handle a large number of geospatial data, higher practicality, easy operation, etc; for the environment, the system needs Windows XP SP3and above operating system, ArcGIS Engine9.3development platform, Visual C#development language,etc.(2) Total designing:Based on the above requirements analysis, the total design of the system’s structural and functional modules were put forward; According to the different functions, the System is divided into the layer management function module、the data management function modules、the thematic maps of functional module、the spatial analysis function module and3D editing function module, of which was designed in detail; Additionally, the design of ports were also considered, which severed in upgrading the WEB, GPS positioning, real-time monitoring function and so on.(3) Specific Developing:As Visual C#as an exploitation language, using ArcGIS Engine9.3as GIS development platform, and making full use of the ArcGIS Engine’s components and related ports, the layer management function module was designed; data loading、map manipulation、attribute query、spatial query、buffer analysis function and so on, which were achieved.(4) The features of the system:for setting aside the interface and Can be docked with a variety of commonly used software, the analyzed and designed system has two advantages, which have had scalability and compatibility; Since the realization of the layer management function module is an independent module development, the achieved layer management function module also have been provided with good portability features.
