At present, with polymeric composites’excellent properties resin based composite materials have got more and more widespread use in aviation. But compared with abroad, our country lacks of digital machining equipment and whole solution in machining composites.Therefore, to solve this problem defect-free sawing technology and digital equipment were researched for composites. By combining theories and experiment, structure and performance of GFRP and CFRP were analyzed, deep-narrow sawing technology for GFRP and high efficient sawing technology for CFRP were obtained. Besides, deep-narrow sawing equipment for GFRP and CNC sawing equipment for CFRP were developed according to these two sawing technology. To conclude, the main research achievements were shown in the following.(1) Based on the properties of GFRP and the designed dimensions of the deep-narrow slit which are0.3mm (width) and6mm (depth) on the surface of the GFRP, research were carried out around slits’width, the length of the bur, burn and the cutting force. By using specific ultra-thin resin bond diamond and optimized sawing parameters, deep-narrow slits conformed to the requirements were obtained on the surface of GFRP components.(2) Based on the properties of CFRP, various sawing tools were chosen to saw thin-walled CFRP component in order to conform its sawing requirement. Consequently appropriate sawing tool and sawing parameters were obtained through experiments.(3) Aimed at the demand of an aviation corporation, deep-narrow slit sawing equipment for large scale cone GFRP cylinder was designed and developed. By using simple connection with machine tool, toroidal and longitudinal deep-narrow Sawing slits on the surface of cone GFRP cylinder were realized, thus meeting the corporation’s urgent need for these models.(4) Aimed at the demand of an aviation corporation, CNC sawing equipment for sawing an large scale slim thin type CFRP component was designed and developed, which realized this model’s integral machining including sawing, milling and drilling, and solved its quality instability in manual sawing.Achievement obtained by this paper Provided a successful application and demonstration for large scale thin-walled composites components.
