A new methodology for modeling and solving the assembly line balancing is set up using the characteristic state space method. It is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. F030207&No.2012BAA01B00). According to the production data of the wind power enterprise, a assembly line optimization and management system is designed and developed based on the assembly line resource configuration and web-based board control.First, assembly line balancing models are set up. The objective function of the question is defined based on the characteristic state space method. The method how to establish the model of the task information, the equipment needs and the precedence relationships are researched. Characteristic state variables are established using the time of the task, equipments, workers and the other resources. Characteristic state equations and input control model of the basic production system are set up. Then, the global assembly line balancing process is expressed intuitively and quantificationally. Characteristic state equations of the objective function about the balancing are set up. The methodology for more accurate description of the mathematical modeling of the assembly line balancing process is formed.Second, the solution surface properties in the characteristic state space of assembly line balancing are discussed. Fast gradient analysis of the balancing objective function is realized. The gradients can be used to guide the search in the traditional genetic algorithm in order to provide a more efficient hybrid algorithm to solve assembly line balancing problem. The new theory and methods are used in the actual assembly line balancing optimization of machinery manufacturing enterprises to test the effectiveness. Compared to the classical methods, the speed and quality are improved by the new method.Finally, a assembly line optimization and management system is designed and developed using the advanced theories and methods. The assembly line balancing is optimized, the performance analysis is achieved and the assembly progress is monitored aided by computer. The system is tested by the actual case data of the enterprises.
