Abstract/Summary:
Along with the rapid development of science and technology, titanium alloy was used in more and more extensive field. However, due to the special properties of materials, it has characteristics of high processing costs and low efficiency processing. Therefore, how to make titanium alloy turning in the direction of high efficiency, high precision, high flexibility, and others is the focus of this paper. In this paper, orthogonal experiment of turning force and tool life was carried out through using of carbide-tipped tools based on the physical properties of titanium alloy TC11. Through the analysis of experimental data, regression equation of tool life and cutting force was obtained, empirical formula of cutting force and tool wear was established. The tool wear morphology was analyzed after the analysis of experimental data. Adhesion wear was proved to be the mainly form of tool wear. The optimization mathematical model of turning parameters target of the lowest processing cost as optimized goal was established by choosing of turning parameters under the constraints of lathe, work-piece and tool.Turning parameters were optimized by using genetic algorithm in MATLAB. The turning experiments and analysis of experimental data show that the predicting value and experimental value of turning force of titanium alloy have a reasonable consistency and common development trend. The optimization of turning parameters provides a basis for the economic benefits of titanium alloy manufacturing which makes the experimental study of titanium alloy turning has a guidance in theory and also in practice.
