Micro-cutting technology belong to MEMS parts machining, with a wide range of processingmaterials, low cost, high precision machining. The small size , the strength and the stiffness ofthe workpiece is not allowed to use the big back of cut and feed rate. Classic cutting theoryexpounded by the cutting elements on cutting does not apply to micro-cutting. Tomicro-cutting process in the mechanism of chip formation, cutting force variation and itsimpact factors for basic research, focusing on the following aspects were studied.1.In this paper, Micro-Cutting force stems focuses mainly on three sections, one are shear flowstress and tensile flow stress, which stem from elastic deformation and plastic deformation oftool and workpieces, the second are the friction between tool rake face and chip, and the thirdis ploughing between tool flank and machined surface. The calculation of derivation formulaswill be established by three sections , which include shear flow stress, tensile flow stress ,andthe friction force of rake surface.2.The simulation of orthogonal turning experiments used adventedgeFEM software, workpiece is ASTM1045 by American Standard(Equivalent to45 steel). The results show thatMain-cutting force is greater than the feed force. There is no influence of cutting speed onCutting Forces. Because of reducing the strain gradient effect in micro-cutting process, thebigger the feed, the smaller the rate of cutting force. The growth process of cutting force isgenetically closer to linear process than feed force.3.Using the data of the practice micro-cutting, the paper verify the predicted theoreticalformula. Found that the cutting speed affect the actual rake angle and shear angle, whichultimately a certain influence on the cutting force.4.The simulation of turning experiments used adventedgeFEM and ABAQUS software, compared the different between micro-cutting and cutting. Different from conventionalcutting, in micro-cutting the maximum temperature of workpiece is located on primarydeformation zone, and the tool tip is the maximum temperature zone, too.
