Corona discharge plasma was adopted to remove Cr (Ⅵ) and phenol in aqueous solution. The paper were investigated the removal efficiency and the mechanism of Cr (Ⅵ) and phenol removal.First, the effect of the power parameters (output power), the reactor parameters (electrode spacing, air flow rate), the solution of initial condition parameters (initial concentration and pH, conductivity, Cr (Ⅵ) and phenol concentration ratio) on the removal rates of aqueous Cr (Ⅵ) and phenol were investigated. The experimental results showed that high removal rates for aqueous Cr (VI) and phenol were observed, and98.8%of Cr (Ⅵ) and99.9%of phenol could be removed after40min with initial concentration30mg·L-1, initial pH value2.1, airflow rate0.05m3·h1, initial conductivity2.26mS·m-1, discharge distance6mm and output power intensity60W. The experimental results confirmed that the removal efficiency of Cr (Ⅵ) was improved in the presence of phenol, but no promotion effect for Cr (Ⅵ) removal was observed when the amount of phenol was excess; the existence of Cr (Ⅵ) have no effect on the removal efficiency of phenol.Second, the pH, conductivity, total chromium and the TOC trend of the Cr (Ⅵ) and phenol mixed solution were determined. The following conclusions:Cr (Ⅵ) was reducted by·H which was generated from the reaction between high-energy electrons and water, leading to the concentration of H+and H3O+in the solution decreased, the pH increased and the conductivity decreased. However, for the low pH, there was no precipitation in the solution during the reaction, so total chromium of the solution was unchanged. Phenol was oxidized to Hydroquinone by· OH, following Hydroquinone oxidized to Benzoquinone, and finally Benzene ring was destroyed and turned into small molecular organic acids which was completely mineralized, leading to the TOC of the solution reduced to0.7mg/L...
