In the process of sealing aluminium alloy devices and glass devices with the indium thermo-compression sealing method, the performance and the consistency are poor for the difficulties to control the sealing parameters accurately. The present sealing method in home is still semi-automated, which mostly relies on manual work, and is inefficiency and without feedback of the sealing information. In that case, a sealing system was built to mass seal aluminium alloy devices and quartz glass automatically. The paper is researched on the basis of the key technology and the control strategy of sealing process.After analyzing the sealing process in indium thermo-compression sealing method, the functions and the design difficulties of the system were confirmed to establish the general plan of the design. Modular and functional design idea is introduced in the sealing system. There are mainly four modules in the system:chamber installing and aligning module, electrode automatically pickup-and-place module, thermo compression module, and computer control module. The computer control module accomplished the automatically sealing work together with the other three modules. In addition, the strategy of process parameters in temperature control and compression control were introduced in the paper.The controlling software of the electrode automatically indium-sealing system was coded in LabVIEW on the basis of Petri Net. The paper not only introduced the application and the priority of Petri Net in dynamic system of discrete event, but also proposed the multi-tier structure of control software. In order to prove the rationality and the effectiveness of the system, the model of the system was built and analyzed cooperated with Petri Net, including call module and control logic. Based on the proof of the Petri Net, the control software was written and test in the software of LabVIEW, and realized all the functions of the automatically sealing devices.The experimental results show that the system can seal the aluminium alloy material and the quartz glass devices automatically and bulkily which can meet the accuracy requirement with high efficiency.
