As the basic manufacturing technology, casting is facing the personalized and smallbatch of new product design, and complexity, large and lightweight of components,which needs parts integrated. But traditional casting method and mould, with more andmore complexity affected the efficiency and quality greatly. Mouldless compoundforming technology is presented in this paper to manufacture high performance castingrapidly.By comprehensively compare the rapid casting technology and related principles athome and abroad, the mouldless combined forming technology formed combining theadvantages of SLS and CNC cutting technology. The model subdivision principle ofmouldless combined forming technology is established for the complexity and sizes ofthe model. the manufacture method for different sand mold is presented and theprocessing technic is recommended preferably with efficiency and material performancerequirement.Judging assembling structure design according to precision and strength, giveconnection ways of bumpy ridge structure for high precision and high strength sandmold assembling. Optimal method is obtained by experiments. It enhanced the precisionand strength of sand mold and then the data of sand mold thickness is achieved.We got the operation process in assembling coupled subdivision of model anddesign of assembly structure. Finally, we do a research on typical casting formingfollowing it,and casted impeller successfully by the mouldless compound formingtechnology in1-2days.In short, the application of mouldless combined forming technology, removedcasting taper angle, reduced the allowance and saving the casting material; and duringthe process, eliminating the need for manufacturing wood mold, reducing the operationstep, improve the efficiency of casting production greatly, and met the designrequirements.This technology has a good social and economic benefits and popularizingprospect in application study in the development of machinery industry which is moregreen, efficient, energy saving and environmental protection.
