The paper was about study of preparation and properties of high-silica ceramics and spodumene ceramics by using quartz sand as the main raw materials.Study of high-silica ceramics, was to prepare for high-silica ceramics with quartz sand, purple knar clay, potash feldspar as the raw materials and Al2O3as additive by using semi-pressure molding. By water absorption, apparent porosity, bulk density and tensile strength of the ceramic sample properties analysis, came to the conclusion that the performance of ceramics materials was optimal with the alumina content of5wt%. Analyzing the sample of the alumina of5wt%as additive by using XRD and SEM, the good performance of ceramics sample was attributed to mullite formation of stone and relatively uniform morphology.Study of spodumene ceramics was two aspects, Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2composite ceramics preparation and mechanical properties, the effect of spodumene ceramics microstructure with the different sintering processes. Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2composite ceramics preparation and mechanical properties, was a report about spodumene ceramics with quartz sand, aluminum oxide as the raw material, PVA binder and Li2CO3-doped. The thermal properties, microstructure and composition of the samples were investigated by TG-DSC, XRD, SEM. Also, bulk density and mechanical properties were measured. The results showed that, with L2CO3doped10wt%, the sintering temperature of1150℃, spodumene solid solution were in present of high crystal phase characterized by XRD, and the main phase was Li2O-Al2O3-4SiO2. Uniform and compact structure and optimal mechanical properties were obtained with the values as high as2.18g/cm3and586MPa.And studying the effect of spodumene ceramics microstructure with the different sintering processes, with the different sintering system spodumene ceramics specimens were prepared under the DSC, TG, XRD, SEM, analyzed the results and obtained the suitable sintering system,firing system(2), heat samples from room temperature to650℃at the heating rate of4℃/min, holding time2h under650℃; heat samples from650℃to872℃at the heating rate of5℃/min, holding time1h under872℃; heat samples from872℃to the sintering temperature at the heating rate of10℃/min, holding time2h under the sintering temperature.Through study of high-silica ceramics and spodumene ceramics, it was found that quartz sand could replace the high-purity quartz as the raw materials of ceramics production. And improving production processes, could expand the scope of application of quartz sand, also reduce the cost of production of ceramics product, and be more conductive to large-scale production of industrialization.
