Ceramic materials are the important material on life of people and industrialconstruction. China is the hometown of ceramics and ceramic products from the ancientworld are famous, such as Jingdezhen ceramics and Zibo ceramic because of its fineworkmanship and excellent performance, it is popular at home and abroad.Quartz ceramics is a new ceramic, having high temperature resistance, low expansioncoefficient, good thermal stability and low cost, often used in building materials, chemicalindustry and scientific research. Quartz ceramics is the production that made with quartz asmain raw material and add a small amount of additives. Because the quartz ceramicproduction can use waste quartz glass and quartz sand as raw material, so it has low rawmaterial cost and wide source of raw materials etc..In this paper, the aeolian sand as the main raw material, then adding K2O and LiF,they can be successfully prepared for quartz ceramic. By using scanning electronmicroscopy (SEM) and X ray diffraction (XRD), morphology, structure and component ofceramic are analyzed and studied. The physical properties of the ceramic bulk density, apparent porosity, temperature and flexural strength, hardness, wear and mechanicalproperties of friction are also tested and analyzed. The effect of structure and properties ofdifferent additives on the morphology of quartz ceramics are summarized, and the bestprocess are put forward. The conclusions are as follows:(1) At1300℃, ceramic have the largest volume density, the lowest apparent porosityrate and water absorption rate. Ceramic added1.5wt%LiF has the largest volume densityand ceramic added2wt%LiF has the lowest apparent porosity rate and water absorptionrate.(2) the best sintering temperature of quartz ceramic is1300℃.When the temperature is1300℃, ceramic with1.5%LiF has the best morphology、microstructure and surface performance.(3)1200℃, ceramic added2wt%LiF has the biggest flexural strength.Under the optimal sintering temperature of1300℃, ceramics added1.5wt%LiF hasthe best wear resistance and ceramic added2wt%LiF has the second-best wear resistance, but ceramics added3wt%K2O has the worst wear resistance. Rockwell hardness of ceramic reached the maximum at1300℃. Rockwell hardness ofceramics added1.5wt%LiF has the maximum, the next is ceramics added2wt%LiF, andthe Rockwell hardness of ceramic added3wt%K2O has the minimum.(4) the results indicate that organization structure and mechanical properties of quartzceramic is the best when ceramic added1.5wt%LiF and the sintering temperature is1300℃.
