In this paper, the pre-treatment of HEC were studied firstly. Then we mainly researched that Octenyl succinic hydroxyethyl cellulose ester can be synthesized by HEC with octenyl succinic acid (OSA) by wet process. On the basic of physical and chemical properties, FTIR, UV-Vis spectra and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were employed to analyze the characters and structure of octenyl succinic acid hydroxyethyl cellulose ester (HEC-OSA), such as apparent viscosity, transparency, freeze-thaw stability, emulsibility and emulsifying. Adopting spray drying technology, made microencapsulated powder oil, using synthesis HEC-OSA as emulsifier, and detected the main properties of the product.1. Pre-treatment of HECThe pretreatment of HEC is by alkali treatment, taking the apparent viscosity of the product as evaluation index. Taking single factor experiments to examine the concentration of lye and lye add processing time related between the apparent viscosities of the finished product. The results show that the optimal pretreatment condition is the lye concn of6%and the processing time is1h.2. Preparation of octenyl succinic acid hydroxyethyl cellulose esterThe process of octenyl succinic acid hydroxyethyl cellulose ester synthesis process was studied, selecting hydroxyethyl cellulose as raw material, and the hydrolysis degree (DE) as evaluation index. On the basis of single factor experiments, used the four factors and three levels of orthogonal design method to optimize the synthesis process. Getting the best process parametere is pH9.0, reaction temperature to45℃, the reaction time1h, the substrate concentration of40%. And the degree of substitution of product is0.0157. Orthogonal experimental analysis obtained the order of the factors of primary and secondary is reaction temperature> pH> substrate concentration> reaction time.3. The property study of octenyl succinic acid hydroxyethyl cellulose esterUsing FTIR to detect the octenyl succinic acid hydroxyethyl cellulose ester structure characterization, the results show that characteristic peak appears only in the1727.93cm-1. It proves the presence of the ester group, thus proving the esterification reaction occurred. The structure and some basis physical and chemical properties of octenyl succinic acid hydroxyethyl cellulose ester were studied. The results show that the apparent viscosity increased by60%and not changed significantly in the range of pH2-12. Moreover, the emulsifying properties significantly improved and emulsion stability gradually increased with the increasing of the degree of substitution. Freeze-thaw stability of octenyl succinic acid hydroxyethyl cellulose ester was better.4. Application in powder oil microcapsules of HEC-OSAWith the basis formulated in the laboratory, we determined the added octenyl succinate hydroxyethyl cellulose ester was1%instead of3%sodium caseinate as emulsifier. The surface oil of the product was1.57%, and the embedding rate is94.32%. Prepared oil microcapsule product was white powder, easily dispersed, dry. And recovery emulsion is stability, no peculiar smell. Using scanning electron microscope (SEM), the results show that microcapsule particle is cylindrical and spherical, smooth surface, uniform size and shape, no cracks or holes in the phenomenon. This indicates the microencapsulation is high efficiency and is good protective effect to the core material.
