Coconut is the sign of Hainan. Every year there are many abandoned coconut shells in Hainan’s forest. And the Coconut shell is one of the best preparation activated carbon raw materials. Activated carbon is a kind of important material production in People’s Daily life. It has been used widely in food, pHarmaceutical, petrochemical, environmental protection and other fields.Firstly, in this paper, the activated carbon was prepared from Hainan abandoned coconut shells using chemical activation method. Using the method of orthogonal experimental design and single factor experiment to determine the craft condition of the preparation of coconut shell activated carbon(CSAC). The effects of pHospHoric acid concentration, ratio of liquid to solid, activating temperature and activating time on the treatment effect of Acid bright red GR simulation dyeing wastewater were discussed. Then in order to further understand the activation effect of the CSAC, the pore properties of CSAC was observed with SEM.Secondly, the preparation of the CSAC loaded copper oxide and cerium oxide catalyst divided into two parts:The first part is for the preparation of the CSAC loaded copper oxide catalyst. The effects of calcining time, calcining temperature and use level of Cu(NO3)2solution on the COD and color removal rates were investigated by single experiment method. Then the technological condition of the CSAC loaded copper oxide was determinined. The second part, the effect on the CSAC loaded copper oxide was investigated by adding cerous nitrate. And then the CSAC catalyst was characterized by using SEM and X-ray diffraction.Thirdly, using the air as oxidant, the CSAC loaded copper oxide and cerium oxide to treat acid red GR wastewater (G wastewater) and reactive brilliant red X-3B wastewater(X wastewater). The effects of wastewater pH value, aeration time and catalyst dosage on the treatment of the G and X wastewater were discussed. Finally, determining the craft condition of treating the G and X wastewater, and A regenerative experiment was made to Restore the performance of the deactivated CuO-CeO2/CSAC. Finally, the kinetics of adsorption of the two dyes by CSAC and the catalytic mechanism of the CuO-CeO2/CSAC was Preliminary studied respectively.
