With the development of the nuclear industry, The world has focused on the design and research of generation-IV nuclear reactor. So it takes higher requirments and challenges for the development of new materials. As the special of reactor materials, irradiation performance is an important indicator for materials development. However, it is a difficult problem to test the radiation performance for the high cost and radioactivity. This paper will research the methods of small sample to test irradiation performance. With its excellent high temperature mechanical properties and good radiation effects, Oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) ferritic/martensitic (F/M) steel is one of the most promising candidates cladding materials for SCWR. Testing irradiation perfor-mance is useful for materials development. The paper researches the micro-sample methods. The research materials are3kind of slightly different Cr content ODS ferritic/martensitic steels which manufactured for SCWR by University of Science and Technology Beijing. The samples were implanted by2.2Mev helium ion and irradiated with3Mev H by4.5MV static accelerator which belong to PKU. Irradiation performance, such as swelling, precipitation and hardening, were tested and evaluated by SEM, TEM, Raman Spectroscopy and Nano-hardness indentation. Meanwhile, The Small Punch Test has been researched in this paper. The paper introduces the origin and development of SPT and elaborates its relevance with traditional mechanical property testing experiments. In particular, the linear relationship between the yield load from the load-displacement curve and the yield strength at room temperature of ODS ferrite steel has been determined and described. Influences of test parameters like the load speed, specimen thickness have been analyzed and discussed through changing each of them separately. All from the influence factors can help with future study of post-irradiation property testing. In this paper, it forms a set of methods using small samples to analyze and evaluate the irradiation performance of new materials trough a large number of experiment. And provides the fundation to improve the preparation process of materials.
