“The optimized design of stair-stepping horizontal wells trajectory” is a new methodwhich bases on the design of horizontal wells trajectory. The design contains the design ofstage-segment besides the design of wells which is above the first target. The horizontal wellstrajectory with more stages contains two or more stage-sections. It make the application ofhorizontal well expand into complex oil field such as the normal oil fields, continuous thinreservoir, broken reservoir and so on. This text erect a suit of quantificational methods aimedat that in some oil fields existing thin reservoir, low permeability, inaccurate reservoir position,which considering some factors such as geology, reservoir engineering, drilling andcompletion generally, stressed the in accuration of reservoir position and the tool’s build-uprate. This text shows the detailed calculation formulas of every segments of the well track,using the optimization theory to make optimization of the whole well, for that the length ofthe well can be shorter than others while satisfying drilling aim. This can minimize thedifficulty of well controlling and drilling work, in favor of safe, high-quality, and effectivedrilling, so it can reduce the drilling cost. Depending on this theory, there is software forcomputers about the design of horizontal wells with more stages trajectory.
