Most rubbers need to add reinforcement except little self-reinforcing rubber such asnature rubber.Carbon black and silica are most effective and widest reinforcement,and manyresearchs try to develop other kinds of reinforcements to broaden its range.We reserch the curing characteristics,physical properties(hardness,tensile strength,tearstrength,wear and rebounding performance), dynamic viscoelasticity, dynamic mechanicalproperties and thermal conductivity of SBR filled with different mounts of similarmica.Then,we make a location for similar-mica by comparing with some reinforcements andfillers(N330,N770,silica,mica, calcium carbonate, calcined kaolinite,nano kaolinite,lightcalcium carbonate and montmorillonite): The tensile strength and tear strength of similar-micaare not as good as two carbon-blacks and silica but close to nano kaolinite,and are better thanother fillers.And the good wear performance of similar-mica is only second to twocarbon-blacks. The thermal conductivity of similar-mica is,as good as nano kaolinite, is bestthan other fillers.The modulus, tensile strength,tear strength and wear of similar-mica/SBR are improvedobviously after modified(KH-550,KH-560,KH-570,Si69).Especially,the tear strength, wearand thermal conductivity improved very obviously modified by KH-560or Si69.So wechoose KH-560for further research,and the result shows that the physical properties andthermal conductivity achieve a good effect when using4%KH-560.At last,we research theproperties of SBR filled with similar-mica modified by4%KH-560.Compared with the fillernot modified,100%modulus and300%modulus improved obviously.And the tear strength ofvulcanization filled with50phr modified similar-mica,as good as46.3kN·m-1of N330and41.3kN·m-1of N770, is44.2kN·m-1that is much better than26.1kN·m-1not modified.At last,15phr similar-mica substitutes for10phr N330in formula of sidewall.Themechanical properties remain unchanged almostly.The tan tested by RPA and DMA reducesslightly,and the thermal conductivity improved.So,it is possible that little similar-micasubstitutes for N330in formula of sidewall.
