Waterborne inorganic coatings have been widely used as industrial anti-corrosion paints, civil architectures and special coatings due to their high hardness, excellent weather resistance, good stain resistance, outstanding solvent resistance, long-term heat resistance andenvironmental friendliness, which traditional organic coatings do not possess. However, theyalso exhibit some disadvantages to greatly limite their applications including brittleness, largeshrinkage rate, poor film-forming property and bad storage stability. In this paper, we haveprepared waterborne inorganic zinc-rich coating and inorganic wall paint used alkali-metalsilicate and silica sol as the film-forming substances, solved the storage stability of potassiumsilicate solution with high SiO2/K2O molar ratio, and film-forming properties of inorganiccoating. The good stability potassium silicate solution with high SiO2/K2O molar ratio wereprepared with low SiO2/K2O molar ratio potassium silicate solution and alkaline silica solwhich modified by organosiloxane, and the zinc-rich coating were obtained with zinc powderand potassium silicate solution in different mass ratios. The effects of molar ratios, solidcontents, categories and amounts of organosiloxane on the storage stability of high SiO2/K2Omolar ratio potassium silicate solutions and the properties of zinc-rich coating wereinvestigated. The results indicated that the storage times of potassium silicate solution withhigh SiO2/K2O molar ratio exceed30days at50℃with5.5of the SiO2/K2O molar ratio,25wt%of the solid content and3wt%of3-glycidxypropyltrimethoxysilane(Z-6040). Thezinc-rich coatings display good compact and excellent performance, and be used as long termanti-corrosion paints. The inorganic-organic hybrids (SiO2/PAE) were prepared via polyacrylate emulsion (PAE) directly mixing of colloidal silica, and was used as the film-forming material toproduce a inorganic wall paint. It was found that film-forming properties can be greatlyimproved by adding appropriate PAE. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra confirmedcolloidal silica associated with PAE by hydrogen bonding; Si-O-Si networks formed throughhydroxy condensation of colloidal silica with little hydroxy groups remained in ultimatehybrid film. Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) photos showed that Si-based polymersdistributed on the film surface with60%of the PAE content, while the inorganic phasecompletely blended with organic phase accompany with phase boundary disappearing with40%of the PAE content. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) curves demonstrated thatSiO2/PAE hybrid films displayed lower thermal stability than that of pure-PAE. Inorganicwall paint was prepared by above mentioned hybrid emulsion as film-forming material, anddisplayed excellent properties with60%of the PVC, AMP-95as the pH controlling agent,Hydrosil2926as silicone agent as well as the other suitable agents.
