We have developed an efficient menthod for thecopper-catalyzed oxidation of aromatic C-H bonds under oxygenatmosphere. A range of of2-arylpyridines and2-arylpyrimidines couldproceed to afford the acetoxylative products in mediate to good yieldsin the presence of20mol%CuO (nano), O2, HOAc/Ac2O solvent. Thehydroxylation of C-H bonds is also achieved under catalytic Cu(OAc)2conditions.With respect to the reaction mechanism, the trivalent copperintermediate may present in the catalytic cycle.
