This thesis focused on copper-catalyzed halogenation ofelectron-deficient and electron-rich aromatic C-H bonds under O2atmosphere. A wide range of2-arylpyridines and2-arylpyrimidines canproceed in the presence of20mol%Cu(NO3)2?3H2O and LiX(X=Cl, Br)in HOAc solvent to afford the halogenated products in mediate togood yields. Cheap lithium halide as a halogenating source andoxygen as an oxidant make the methods useful and practical. Atpresent, for the mechanism of such reactions, we do not clearly know it.
