H-beam derived from joist steel is one kind of economic section beam. Due to its excellent mechanical properties, it is widely used to build various kinds of steel structure buildings. In developed countries, the usage amount of H-beam in all steel consumption of steel structure building is over50%. And it is clearly that the hot-rolled h-beam will replace welding H-beam to be the main consumables. So on a national level the production of H-beam is not only representing their steel production level, but also the measure of the development of their steel structure building. In our country, after10years’strongly support and promotion, the production of hot rolling h-beam developed fast, but the production of large size H-beam which was necessary in large steel structure building and forming more difficultly developed relatively slowly.In order to research the forming process of large H-beam, based on the large H-beam production line in Laiwu Iron&Steel Group Co., LTD, metal plastic forming simulation technology was used in the simulation research of hot rolling process, and the large H-beam’s metal plastic forming laws were revealed. The rollers were made as deformable body to research its strength situation and deformation regularity. The result of this simulation research could provide some valuable references to the measurement control of H-beam and stable operation control of the rolling mills.The Standard and Explicit solver of ABAQUS were synthetically used to establish finite element model for rolling process and inter-pass thermolysis process. The reciprocating multi-pass rolling process simulation procedure based on the re-mesh technology was used to simulate the whole production process form blanks to finish products, and the continuity of data was ensured.According to the finite element simulation model established above, comprehensive parameters of hot rolling were obtained, and the stress situation and corresponding deformation of workpiece and rollers were analyzed, as well as the variation of workpiece’s temperature was discussed. The detailed analysis of metal flow in different rolling pass provides a theoretical reference to the defect research and quality control of products. According to the research of rollers’stress situation and deformation, the influence from rollers’elastic deformation to H-beam’s dimensional accuracy was discussed, and the operation condition of rolling mills was assessed.The work expanded the application of metal plastic forming simulation technology in steel production, and provided a reliable and quick reference for the improvement of large H-beam rolling technology and the development of new specification products.
