Aluminum alloy rolling ingots are the main raw materials for high quality aluminum alloy plates, belts and foils. With the development of economic, the requirements for aluminum alloy plates, belts and foils increase greatly, so the requirements for aluminum alloy rolling ingots increase greatly in our country. In the field of slab casting, equipments were imported timely and processes development need be give some time to accomplish. The article gave the optimizing methods of slab casting based on theory and practices.The article introduced current situation of slab casting at first, and expounded vertical semicontinuous Direct-Chilling cast theory according to the equipment’s characteristics, and exhibited the reasons how to achieve Low Head height, and explained the reason of enhanced cooling.That the characteristic phenomenons were dissected made the casting process easy to be understood. Then the main factors were listed and the method of effected were stated. The optimizing directions for parameters were given and verified in the test.The main factors were evaluated and the optimizing methods of slab casting were given.The acticle combined theory and contacted with practice, the design idea and methods can be refered to establish slab cast development or optimize process or explore cast technology of wagstaff.
