In this paper, polyacrylonitrile(PAN) fiber is modified by aniline(ANI), and theantistatic property is improved. The methods of solution polymerization and emulsionpolymerization are used to prepare PAN/PANI fiber separately, and the antistatic property isstudied.Firstly, the pretreatment condition of polyacrylonitrile fiber is studied. The pretreatmentsolution is determined, and then the effects of different temperatures, different processingtime and concentration of different processing conditions on the antistatic properties ofpolyacrylonitrile fiber are investigated.Then, according to the conduction mechanism of aniline polymerization doped by protonacid, the proton acid used to prepare PAN/PANI fiber is determined. The PAN/PANI-HClfibers、PAN/PANI-TSA fibers、PAN/PANI-SSA fibers are made by solution polymerizationwith the doped acid of HCl, TSA, SSA. The PAN/PANI-DBSA fibers are made by emulsionpolymerization with the doping acid and emulsifier of DBSA. Then the effects of theselection and the amount of acid-doped, the selection and the amount of initiator, the amountof ANI, reaction time and temperature on the antistatic properties of PAN/PANI fiber arestudied.The result show that the fibers are treated20min at80℃in the solution of1.5mol/LNaOH is the optimum conditions for pretreatment. The acid-doped, initiator, reaction timeand temperature influence the antistatic properties of polyacrylonitrile fiber moreobviously.When the concentration of HCl is1mol/L,the concentration of TSA is1.2mol/L,theconcentration of SSA is1.25mol/L, the concentration of APS is50g/L, the temperature is20℃,reaction time is2h,it can obtain good antistatic properties of PAN/PANI-HCl fibers,PAN/PANI-TSA fibers,PAN/PANI-SSA fibers. When the ratio of APS snd ANI is1.1:1, theamount of DBSA is24mg/L, the temperature is15℃,reaction time is6h, and it can obtaingood antistatic properties of PAN/PANI-DBSA fibers by emulsion polymerization.The resistance of conventional polyacrylonitrile fiber is1012, and the resistance ofpolyacrylonitrile fiber modified by aniline could be reduced to103-106. This can explainthat the PAN/PANI fibers modified by aniline already have good antistatic properties.
