Abstract/Summary:
Ploybrominated diphenyl ethers PBDEs were widely used in manyfields as a additive bromine containing flame retardants. PBDEs were detectedin many mediums and became global pollutants at present. PBDEs wereproduced and used in a large amount in China, besides the analytical methodsand distribution characteristics were on the beginning stage, needed furtherstudy. At present PBDEs environmental pollution became important researchin environmental chemistry field.Soil samples were collected in typical decabromodiphenyl oxideDBDPO manufacturing plant and abandoned plant in0-100cm depth.GC-EI-MS and GC-NCI-MS methods for PBDEs analysis were developed inthis research in order to analyze every BDE. Accelerated solvent extractorwere choosen for extraction of PBDEs in soil samples and multilayer compound silica gel column were employed to cleanup samples. The resultsshowed the methods responded well and the datas were stable and reliable. The study results showed soils in manufacturing plant were seriouslypolluted and concentration of BDE-209and∑7PBDEs were ranged from8.95g·g-1to94.0g·g-1dw and from292.712ng·g-1to111.7g·g-1dwrespectively. Level of PBDEs in manufacturer was ten or hundred times higherthan the typical e-waste disposable sites. The lists of most polluted areas wereheaded by warehouse and producing area. The concentration trendline ofBDE209was rising with the soils go deeper. The linear correlation betweenBDE209concentration and TOC was significant. The contents of∑7PBDEswere lower and lower with the soil depth increasing. However the linearcorrelation between∑7PBDEs and TOC was not so obvious TOC doesinfluence∑7PBDEs concentration and the vertical distribution in warehousecould prove it. BDE-209concentration was extremely high in displaced plant, ranging from1.39g·g-1to24.1g·g-1, and the pollution level was equal to thee-wast treatment sites. On the other hand∑7PBDEs concentrations werelower, ranging from0.99ng·g-1to110.44ng·g-1some congeners were even notdetected. The level of∑7PBDEs concentration in displaced plant was ten orhundred times higher than the natural soil. The tendency of PBDEsconcentrations went down with the soil went deeper. The correlation betweenPBDEs contents and TOC was not significant, because of the low TOC. Thereason for high BDE-209was the DBDPO production, and the other congeners may be decomposed by BDE-209.
