Since1960,the invention of the laser create a new field of nonlinear optics. The laser is especially noteworthy in the military field. With the rapid development of the laser jamming and blinding weapons and its increasing automation,There are more and more serious threats in this regard.Laser protection has attracted more and more national attention. The laser protection purpose is to protect its own personal and equipment from laser damage.Nanomaterials are a kind of laser protective materials with optical limiting property.One-dimensional metal nano-materials and optical materials are paid much attention because of their potential application in the laser protective role of nonlinear optical limiting effect. This paper presents the structure of the eye and the basic physiological processes. The human eye is like a camera. The paper stresses the process that the outside scenery how to be into the brain then become the visual through the human eye. This paper also presents the characteristics of the typical laser wavelength and hazards of the laser to the human eye.Scientists are mainly concentrated in the basic research of nonlinear protective material. Optical limiting materials have important research value in the fight against laser jamming and blinding weapons. In order to study the nonlinear optical limiting effect mechanism,Ag nanowires were fabricated by using of a solid-state ionic method. Morphologies, crystal structures and chemical components of the nanowires were analyzed and characterized by means of SEM and XRD. Nonlinear absorbsion and refraction of silver nanowires suspended in de-ionized water, were measured using Z-scan technique at532nm wavelength. Experimental results indicate that the capability of nonlinear absorption and refraction of silver nanowires suspended in de-ionized water is good. Finally, The reverse saturable absorption and optical limiting properties in silver nanowires, suspended in de-ionized water were investigated by using an EKSPLA (PL2143A) picosecond laser, which produced30ps laser pulses at532nm with a repetition rate of1Hz. Experimental results indicate silver nanowires have obvious optical limiting properties. It provides a reference for laser protective materials and for looking for good new material that can protect eyes from the laser damage.
