The application of polyethylene is constrained because of its low strength, melting pointand yield stress. Therefore, reforcing the mechanical properties of polyethylene becomes thefocus of this study, mainly from cross-linking and adding fillers to reforce.A mixture of silane grafted PE (referred to as materials A) and catalyst masterbatch(referred to as material B) was processed into products by extrusion machines and otherequipments, then placed in90℃water bath to generate silane crosslinked PE. The differentprocessing conditions, including conditions of extrusion, injection, boiled about the tensilestrength of silane crosslinked PE were discussed to determine the better processing conditions;The influence of different formulations of A and B feed ratio of silane crosslinked PEon mechanical properties, gel content, crystallinity, thermal deformation temperature werediscussed, better of silane cross-linked PE formula was A: B=60:40(referred to as B40).The tensile property of B40was18.9MPa, compared to PE raw materials increased byabout40%.Adding fillers to enhance the pure polyethylene, I discuss the fillers like glass fiber,calcium carbonate whisker, whiskers of silicon, and blending with HDPE as well to improvethe tensile strength of pure polyethylene, the results show that: glass fiber is the best,HDPE Secondly, the worst effect of whiskers. When adding the four pumping glass fibercompatible with the agent of EAA(accounting for8%by weight of the masterbatch PE), thetensile strength is19.6Mpa, increased by50%than that of pure PE; with the contactangle Measure instrumentation, I dicuss the effect of surface treatment of the whiskers.I discuss the enhancement effect of glass fiber and HDPE on the silane crosslinkedpolyethylene B40, the results show that: the effect of glass fiber is little, with the increase ofglass content, the gel content of crosslinked polyethylene gradually reduces, heat distortiontemperature gradually increases, the crystallinity decreases. Blending with HDPE, the tensilestrength was improved when adding the40%wt of HDPE, the tensile strength of crosslinkedpolyethylene is up to25.4Mpa, improve by85%than PE raw materials, with the increase ofHDPE content, variation of the gel content of cross-linked polyethylene, heat distortiontemperature, the degree of crystallinity is such as the variation of adding glass fiber.
