With the increasing serious problems of water shortage and pollution, it has become ahot spot to develop an economic and efficient method for recycling of wastewater, so as toreduce crisis of water resources and decrease the environment pollution.Inorganic ceramicmembrane is a kind of advanced separation filter used extensively in fields of chemistry,medical、environment protection、petroleum、energy、food etc, because of its excellentperformances of high-temperature stability and corrosion resistance. The foreign inorganicmembrane mainly include microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration etc, which have theadvantages of high permeation flux and long lifetime, as well as the features of precise poresize designing and expensive. However, the domestic products still have obvious gaps withforeign ones in flux and lifetime.According to the feature of wastewater and sludge, we hopeto develop a low-cost, high flux, long-life inorganic membrane product.α-Al2O3was used as the main skeleton material, Kaolin as the secondary bond fillermaterials, CMC as the forming binder, Glycerol as the lubricant of the plasticized, PC-67asdispersant, and pore-forming agent and a small amount of sintering aids were added. Theinorganic support tubes were obtained by extrusion pressing and sintered at high temperature.The products of alumina support tubes with micron pore size included φ13single-channel,φ25seven-channels, φ30nineteen-channels. The effects of the particle size, pore-formingagent and sintering aids on the properties of the alumina support tubes were investigated.Alumina membranes with pore size of0.5,0.2,0.1,0.05μm were prepared by dip coatingon the alumina support tubes. The microstructure observation of the membrane was carriedout by SEM and the change of water flux of the membrane was also measured. Finally, theproducts of ceramic membrane were used in the treatment of wastewater.
