The wastewater from flotation in mineral processing contains a lot of hazardous substances, such as heavy-metal ion and toxic organic pollutants. It can do harm to environment if directly discharged into the environment without disposal.In this dissertation, flotation wastewater from Chehe poly-metals plant was studied as the research object. Ozone-Biologic Activated Carbon was conducted as the treatment of this kind of flotation wastewater. In order to find a method of recycling flotation wastewater, the effect of wastewater directly reused on flotation, the Ozone-BAC treatment for typical flotation organic reagents and practical flotation wastewater have been investigated.The flotation wastewater from Chehe poly-metals plant had characteristics of high pH, metal and cyanide ion content, high CODcr according to the property analysis. The effect of pH, copper ion, cyanide ion and flotation organic reagent of wastewater on flotation has been studied, the results showed that all of these factors had obvious influence to flotation, the pH and COD was more obvious.The Ozone-BAC typical treatment on flotation organic reagents shows that the removal rate of wastewater with butyl xanthate (concentration was150mg/L), ethyl thio carbamate (concentration was150mg/L) and pine camphor oil (concentration was150mg/L) were beyond90%at the hydraulic retention time of4h and ozone concentration of22.2mg/L. The removal rate of COD is41%and pH down to6under the condition of initial pH of8and concentration of butyl xanthate of150mg/L. The comparison study of treatment use Ozone-BAC and BAC were investigated; the results show that removal rate of CODcr is65%and pH down to5using Ozone-BAC, while the BAC is only15%and pH down to8.The Ozone-BAC treatment on two kinds of wastewater from mineral processing had been tested, the results show that pH was from7to6, CODcr was from224mg/L down to122mg/L (removal rate was55%) and concentration of copper ion was from13.39mg/L down to2mg/L (removal rate was84%) on the overflow of mixed sulfide ore, pH was from12to8, CODcr was from396mg/L to170mg/L (removal rate was57%) and concentration of cyanide ion was from20.2mg/L down to0.3mg/L (removal rate was98%) on the overflow of zinc flotation tailing.A comparison experiment was studied using the treated wastewater, wastewater without disposal and fresh water. The results show that the treated wastewater had less influence on the flotation.
