Taohuashan iron mine is located at Tieshan County,Huangshi City,Hubei province. Afteryears of mining by using open stoping method, the scope of underground goaf is huge. Lack ofeffective supporting measures in prior mining, there were many goaf roof fall accidentsoccurring from year1998which has induced surface subsidence disasters to occur repeatedly.These accidents will seriously threaten the mine production security. Research on collapse law ofGoaf has important significance in safety mining.The paper introduced the mechanism of the roof and pillars failure in mine which used openstope method. The two necessary conditions of goaf collapse which were mechanics instabilityand enough collapse space were raised. The stability of golf was analyzed by use of ANSYSsoftware. Based on geological hazards of goaf collapse in Taohuashan iron mine, the law ofroof caving in Taohuashan iron mine was calculated, and the stability of roof was analyzed byusing Protojiakonov’s theory, the stability of pillars was analyzed by using Bieniawski’s pillarstrength formula. Combining the mechanics elements of goaf collapse and geological hazards ofgoaf collapse in Taohuashan iron mine, the surface collapse rules and subsidence area’s stabilitywere analyzed. According to the collapse factors of goaf, the counter measures was proposed,itprovides theoretical foundation for the safe production in mining area....
