As a kind of renewable, degradation, non-toxic natural cellulose fiber free frompollution, the linen fiber fabric has given its easy photographs because of its highcrystallinity, small elongation and big initialmodulus. Collagen is an excellent rawmaterial of protein, which has a good affinity with human skin. In order to overcomethe shortcomings of them,the flax fibers had been grafted with Collagen. In order torealize the flax yarn and collagen protein effective grafting, the flax fiber has beendone with activation treatment such as Stlfonation, CMC methylation, chlorine ofarmour and get the sulfonated flax fiber, the carboxymethyl flax fiber and flax fibersof chloromethyl. Again on this foundation the collagen protein has been grafted forthe preparation of collagen flax fibers. The flax fiber and protein structure of the flaxfibers was characterized and analyzed by IR, X-ray diffraction, scanning electronmicroscope and other methods.The results showed that: With activation treatment such as Stlfonation, CMCmethylation, the flax fibers and the adhesion strength of the collagen have beenenhanced. The activation of the degree of linen fiber flax fibers have an importantinfluence on mechanical properties and the ability of collagen protein grafting. Thegreater the degree of the flax fibers activation, the stronger collagen protein’s abilityto graft and the bigger the mechanical properties of the fiber loss, So activate degreeshould be appropriate.Flax yarn sulfonated under processing which the concentration of sodiumperiodate5g/L, aw concentration of50g/L and temp40℃have an graftcopolymerization reaction with collagen protein which grafted rate as high as17.43,but the flax fiber strength losses when sodium bisulfite excessive dosage and In thehigher rate of graft. And when the grafting yield control in9%-11%, the loss of flaxfiber strength is smaller, the elongation at break and moisture regain also have beenimproved.Linen yarn at the concentration of8%sodium hydroxide concentration was2%chloroacetic acid, carboxymethyl processing50℃, and then reaction with the collagengraft. The carboxymethyl flax fiber and collagen grafting rate can be as high as12.43%strength loss, elongation at break and moisture regain increased slightly.With the conditions quality for8%sodium hydroxide concentration, theconcentration of3%of the quality of methylene chloride and under30℃chlorinemethylation processing, then with the graft copolymerization reaction of collagen protein, Chlorine armour and collagen protein fibers di-n-propyl grafting rate canamount to7.31%, with powerful lossing small the elongation at break and moistureregain have been improved.
