2is a kind of low phonon energy, wide band gap, strong ionicity and small electron cloud expansion effects host material. The BaF2doped with Yb3+and Er3+is a very good up-conversion materials. Currently the existence of this material mainly in the form of crystal, glass, powder, etc. The transparent ceramics has lots of advantages, such as withstanding high temperature and corrosion, high hardness, simple fabrication, large-size can be prepared, that other forms of material can not compared with.In this dissertation, the BaF2:Yb,Er up-conversion transparent ceramic of which rare-earth fluoride powders were synthesized by direct precipitation, were prepared by solid-phase method. This paper discussed the influence of rare-earth doping concentration, molding condition, preburning system and sintering of BaF2:Yb.Er transparent ceramics up-conversion and transmittance properties. The prepared transparent up-conversion ceramic was on the diameter of13.2mm and had a thickness of3mm. Tested the ceramic after polished, in the980nm wavelength laser excitated, the highest transmittance of the ceramic was up to25%. The emission spectrum of the sample showed that, there were three peaks at the wavelength of540nm,548nm and660nm. Because of the luminous intensity of the green light was so strong that the red was annihilated. So the sample emitted a dazzling green.
