Laser glass in the field of laser technology plays an important role in the rapid development of laser technology and the high power laser research,. With the emergence of photonic crystal fiber, researchers started to imagine how to use the excellent performances of photonic crystal fiber to produce surplus high-power fiber lasers.AS the large-mode-area photonic crystal fiber can be achieved, but also to maintain its single-mode characteristics to ensure the quality of the laser beam output and reduced nonlinear effects, and help reduce the heat generated by high-power laser effects in a photonic crystal fiber cladding within the pores, In this paper, Yb3+-doped laser glasses were prepared by the conventional melting method. With theory and experimental analysis, it is suitable for preparation of Yb3+-doped photonic crystal fiber required Yb3+-doped laser glasses, and its spectral characteristics are analyzed. This paper includes the following aspects:Firstly, the, the thesis of the rare-earth-doped laser glass and rare-earth-doped photonic crystal fiber laser were analyzed and elaborated on the basement of the theory of rare-earth-doped laser materials.Secondly, the rare-earth-doped laser glasses for the formulation and preparation process were discussed. In laboratory conditions permiting, based on a variety of high-temperature melting, different components Yb3+-doped laser glass samples were prepared and density, refractive index, absorption and fluorescence spectral and other performance tests were measured.Finally, according to test results, combined with the Yb3+ion spectroscopy and laser performance parameters, the use of F-L and RM heories, we calculated the Yb3+-doped laser glasses. And the analysis of the Yb+-doped concentrations and glass component changes in spectral properties, and the experimental condition in the best doping concentration ratio were discussed for all samples. The glasses showed the best performance of the group distribution ratio.
