Organic nitrogenous compounds are the most important heterocycles in nature. In thesis, two kinds of nitrogen-containing compounds such as indoles and amides were synthesized catalyzed by the copper from imple and readily accessible starting. In part one a simple, efficient and facile route for the preparation of indole-2-carboxylic esters was described. The cascade reactions of2-bromobenzaldehyde and glycine ester hydrochloride catalyzed by Cu2O gave the corresponding indole-2-carboxylic esters in good to excellent yields. The present method utilizes commercially available, inexpensive aldehydes, Cu2O and benign glycine ester hydrochloride as starting materials one-pot synthesis of indole-2-carboxylic esters is a complementary to existing methods to produce2-substituted indole. In part two, we have mainly described a novel and interesting method to synthesis of amides via copper-catalyzed oxidative amidation reaction between an aldehyde and a tertiary amine by using an inexpensive catalyst-oxidant (CuBr/tBuOOH) system.
