Rare earth luminescent materials have applications in novel illumination light source, display, optical information, photoelectricity conversion of solar power, optoelectronic devices, biological label, ion detection technology, agriculture, mordern defense and so on because of their narrow emission bands, high quantum efficiency, high brightness, rich color, wide visual view, long decay times and a large stockes’shift. In recent years, more and more studies have focused on lanthanide contained ILs as promising new luminescence soft materials for photochemistry and spectroscopy. In this paper, a new approach to synthesize lanthanides-doped ionic liquids is presented, which use the anion of task-specific ionic liquid ([A336][BA]) as a sensitizing agent for the photoluminescence of Eu (III) and Tb (III), and a little of ethanol solution which can remove easily was added as the secondary solvent of lanthanide chloride. And according to this new method, a series of any concentration of lanthanides-doped ILs could be synthesized and more important which use the anion of the IL as a sensitizing agent for lanthanide fluorescence. To the best of our knowledge, the usage of quaternary ammonium type cationic of TSIL have application in luminescent materials is reported for the first time. There are two setments in this paper:1) The preparation and characterization of lanthanide chloride and lanthanide nitrate doped ionic liquid.2) The preparation and characterization of rare earth organic complex doped ionic liquid.
