Bio-template synthesis of nanomaterials refers to using a specific structure of biological tissues, biological macromolecules or living organisms as templates to synthesize new nano-materials. New materials or nanostructures will be formed using physical and chemical methods by means of biological self-assembly and spatial confinement effect according to designing requirements. It is a very promising developing direction to use biological materials as templates. In recent years, materials with various morphologies have been successfully prepared by using different bio-templates. DNA is an important template and has been aroused interests of scientists to fabricate nanomaterials using DNA as a template. In this dissertation, YF3:Tb3+and LaF3:Yb3+,Er3+mesoporous nanospheres and CePO4:Tb3+and LaPO4:Yb3+,Er3+mesoporous nanorods were synthesized by hydrothermal method using herring DNA as the reaction template. For the first time,CuS nanobundles and butterfly bow-shaped NaGdF4:Eu3+/Tb3+nanomaterials were prepared applying DNA as a template. The samples were characterized by x-ray diffractometry (XRD). scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and fluorescence spectroscopy. The results reveal that the average size of the mesoporous nanospheres is ca.40-50nm; the mean length of the mesoporous nanorods is ca.350nm. Some meaningful results were obtained, and laid solid foundations for future study of preparation of rare earth nanostructured luminescent materials using biological as template.
