Rare earth fluorides have received a wide range of applications due to their high impedance, low phonon energy, strong ionic bonds, and many other physico-chemical properties. And the ultrafine grain of micro/nano materials would induce new excellent properties or enhance their current performance. Therefore, research on the preparation, crystal growth process and formation mechanism of micro/nano-sized rare earth fluorides has became one of the popular subjects in the field of materials Science. On the basis of this background, this dissertation is focused on the controllable synthesis and growth mechanism of micro/nano rare earth fluorides in a hydrothermal system, and their luminescent properties have also been researched. The main points of this dissertation are described as follows:(1) CaF2-YF3microspheres were fabricated by a hydrothermal method. In the reaction disodium thylenediamine tetraacetate (Na2H2L) and NaBF4were used as chelator and fluoride source. The influences of reaction time, pH value, fluorides source and amount of Na2H2L were investigated. The formation mechanisms and luminescence properties of the as-obtained Eu3+-doped products were discussed.(2) CaF2flower-like microspheres were prepared via a hydrothermal method in the presence of disodium ethylenediamine tetraacetate (Na2H2L) and NaBF4. The influences of reaction time, pH value, fluorides source and concentration of Ca2+ions were investigated. The formation mechanisms and luminescence properties of the as-obtained Eu3+-doped products were studied.
