Harbin Garbage Power Plant is the first plant for refuse disposal and powergeneration in the northeast of China. It is a challenge to run this plant safely andsteadily. Satisfactory control system is the basis for the process of refuse-fired powergeneration in the plant, wherever, scientific management and process control is thekey for successful operation. The process of refuse power generation of HarbinGarbage Power Plant was introduced in detail in this study. Moreover, the function,structure and characteristic of DCS in the process of production were also explored.DCS System has been widely applied in power plant to realize the automatedmanagement of unit information and plays an important role for the stability, safetyand reliable operation of the industrial production process. DCS provides a powerfulhardware and software platform for advanced control for its popularity andimprovement. The study was based on author′actual work experience in HarbinGarbage Power Plant. Furthermore, it was explored on current status and DCSapplication in Harbin Garbage Power Plant. It summarized the aim and methods ofinformation management in power plant and proposed the design scheme. Theapplication of DCS in Harbin Garbage Power Plant run through the whole study andthe following research methods were used in this study as spot visits, qualitativeanalysis, quantitative analysis, comparative analysis et al. It summarized theadvantages and disadvantages of DCS in the process of refuse-fired power generationand combined the theory research and practical application. This study will help directthe process of production and plays an important role for the operation anddevelopment in Harbin Garbage Power Plant in the future.
