In recent years, with the rapid development of science and technology, countries have toimprove their defense in the level of armor protection and more attention. Silicon carbide(SiC) ceramic materials with high strength, high hardness, low density, resistance to abrasion, corrosion, high temperature, oxidation and a series of excellent performance, is an idealmaterial for preparation of armor, but its brittleness, toughness is low. In the brittle ceramicmaterials with the introduction of high-temperature soft, cascading through the soft and hardcompound layer laminated composite ceramics were prepared can effectively improve thetoughness of ceramic materials, and tape casting is the production of laminated compositeceramic materials, the main preparation process. This paper uses the aqueous and non aqueous tape casting of preparing homogeneousmicrostructure, good flexibility, high strength, smooth surface of the SiC casting film, and twokinds of the rheological behavior of slurry, drying process and film forming mechanism therelationship between, a detailed analysis of the SiC/BN cast laminate armor ceramic formingtechnology.Through two kinds of preparation methods of dispersing agent, binder, plasticizer, pHvalue, on the viscosity and rheological properties of high solid content, access, uniformdispersion stability, moderate viscosity, good fluidity and non aqueous aqueous SiC slurry.Research shows that adding dispersant on dispersion effect of slurry optimal value, exceed theoptimum dosage of redundant dispersant will cause the increase of viscosity of plasticizers;can effectively soften adhesive molecules and to reduce the viscosity of the slurry, whenplasticizer/binder in the range of0.8~1can get moderate viscosity SiC casting slurry; withthe increase of the content of binder, the cast film density and tensile strength are firstincreased and then decreased, with the increase of the content of plasticizer, cast film densitydecreases but the elongation at break increased. The aqueous and non aqueous tape castingprocess of drying and sintering system undertook comparative study, determined the slurrydrying conditions and cast film glue discharging system, and analyzes the casting formingmechanism of film formation.
