The CACS for parts was mainly used to describe the mechanical structure and theprocess characters, and to categorize the parts with similar property. This article maderesearches on the feature of the traditional CACS. Combining with the features of thetobacco machinery parts, it creatively established a new coding system which included notonly these parts’ structural features but also their manufacturing process information. Thisnew system described the structure and the manufacturing process characters of the partsthrough nine-digital fixed code and described the main manufacturing procedure throughthree-digital flexible code. This new system was self-developed and constituted of several features. The first onewas that it framed the parts’ classifications and their methods, and selected theclassification marks according to the features of the tobacco packaging machine’s parts. The second one was that the fixed code simplified the description of the parts’ structureand contour and described the specifications of manufacturing process through anadditional code. The last one was that it put forward an innovative concept of flexible codefor working procedure. It classified the parts based on the practical machining condition, and made the working procedure its criteria for the classification. This article established a CACS in terms of different characters of parts of tobaccopackaging machine. Shanghai Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd conducted several pilotprojects applying this new coding system to some components of the major products. As aresult, relative classification information of parts was achieved, and information fordifferent parts group was created. Through the analysis of the result and it’s comparisonwith the practical manufacturing condition, the credibility and feasibility of this newcoding system was testified.
