Recent years, people pay more attention to andalusite for its stable,fire-resistive, heat-resistive characteristics. Although andalusite is widely used and required, the rich orescontaining low impurity and high quality ore are few. So it is important to explore anddevelop the low-grade ores.The study does a research about the composition and distribution of andalusite inWenggong Mountain of Damao Qi(a county level administration region in Mongolia, wheremost residents are Mongolians). According to the study of the raw ore, it can be found thatthe experimental ore sample contains mica, quartz and chlorite except andalusite. Besides,garnet, feldspar,little iron objects and carbon-base can also be found in the sample, in whichthe content of andalusite is7.4%. Observed by microscope, a part of andalusite showscolumnar and has a square cross-section, which has a few carbon-bases whose particle size is0.12-0.48mm. Most of the carbon-bases have been sericitization, and only a little part ofcarbon-bases exist, which is10%. Other parts of andalusite show anhedral form, and theparticles are mostly combined with quartzs and iron mud dust-catchings, which split intosmall grain and blur. The particle size is0.12-0.48mm, and the andalusite is about30%. Thepractical particle size is0.015-0.06mm. For the reason that a part of the andalusite havebeen sericitization, beneficiation of andalusite is difficult in the process of ore-dressingprocess.After reading lots of literature, the author does an exploratory experiment according tothe study of the raw ore and the composition of experimental andalusite sample. Theseparation of the andalusite adopts the magnetic-selection and flotation. Meanwhile theauthor also does conditional test and processing test to the ore sample. After crushing,grinding, desliming, wet high-intensity magnetic separation,roughing, scavenging,and sixregrading, the yield of ore is1.36%. The concentrate ore, in which the andalusite is69.60%,has12.74%recycled andalusite.The containment rate of andalusite can be improved from7.4%to69.6%throughbeneficiation. Through the test of the degree of the dissociation of the concentrate products,the de-dissociative andalusite in the concentrate ore is10%. The de-dissociative particle sizeis between0.04-0.09mm and is connected to quartz. The dissociative rate of andalusite can be improved by increasing the grinding time. But when most of andalusites reach to325mesh, the amount of mud increase, which causes the destroy of the andalusite.The author proposes a new research idea according to the low recovery andcontainment of andalusite. The author hope it can be referred in the mineral process ofandalusite.
