Yuanbaoshan open pit mine is a modern large-scale coal enterprises belongs toInner Mongolia Pingzhuang Coal Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. It was set up in October15,1990. The mine construction stripping project was ended on December311994, and putinto trial production in1998. On April282005this mine handed over to production,and met the design production capacity of5.0Mt/a in2006.With the rapid development of national economy and the implementation of therevitalization of northeast old industrial base policy in China, the demand of energy isincreasing. Coal, electricity and oil become the important factors restricted the rapiddevelopment of national economy. Because of the lack of oil resources and abundantcoal resources, making full use of coal resources and constructing large coal powerproject to replace petroleum products became an important way to solve China’s energycrisis. Yuanbaoshan open pit mine positively responded to the call of China GuodianCorporation to build a billion-tons coal enterprises, its production capacity has beenexpanded to15Mt/a after two times of transformation process. At the same time, itmade new demands on bucket wheel excavator stripping ability. On this basis, thispaper advanced to optimize the bucket wheel excavator technology and processparameters.This paper started with the continuous process of the bucket wheel excavator inYuanbaoshan open pit mine, took2nd bucket wheel as the research object, furtherextended to the entire bucket wheel excavator mining process. It began with drawing upprocess running position diagram completely, optimizing each type of process,analyzing the stripping time and stripping quantity, considering the geological conditionand selecting the optional process plan. Secondly analyzed the working mechanism,researched the parameters of the host body complementary factors, and determined theparameter setting of bucket wheel excavator, from this inferred the inversely-proportional relationship between slices and speed of bucket wheel, considered toreduce the speed control criterion. Then analyzed the speed is too fast in Yuanbaoshanopen pit mine actual production and raised a new speed control criterion. According tothe stripping theory to choose the best combined process, then gives a view that is thegreater advance distance, the higher stripping ability. Through the research of this topic, a optimal running process of bucket wheelexcavator was preferred, a new setting of the combination step mode, bucket cycleangular velocity was raised. To improve the stripping production capacity further andprovide stripping protection for expanding mine capacity.
