Due to the Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and nonlinear optical properties, thefabrication and properties of metal nanoparticles have been studied widely during the pastyears. In this work, the high-orderly silver periodical nanoparticles array (Ag PPA) werefabricated by the nanosphere lithography method, and the linear and nonlinear optical (NLO)properties of several samples were investigated by the UV-vis spectrometer and the Z-scanmethod using a femtosecond laser. The main content is as follows,(1) The different kinds of Ag PPA were fabricated by the drop coating method and thepulsed laser deposition (PLD) process. Through adjusting the N2pressure and the depositiontime in the PLD, as well as the annealing method, three groups of samples were got, namelyA group, B group and C group.(2) The samples in different groups were characterized by the UV-vis spectrometer. Theresults showed, the pressure, the deposition time and the annealing treatment had effects onthe position, the width, the intensity of the absorbtion peak. In particular, while annealingmade the absorption peak blue-shifted and narrowed, it could also improve the stability.(3) The samples in different groups were studied by the Z-scan system. The resultsshowed that the relation between the nonlinear optical properties and light intensity variedwith the preparation conditions. Specially, among the Ag PPA of different thickness(B group),the sample with thinner thickness may have a nonlinear refraction transformation with thelight intensity. However, among the annealed Ag PPA of different height(C group), thesamples with thinner thickness may have a nonlinear absorbtion transformation with thelight intensity.(4) At last, the properties of gold-silver periodical nanoparticles array (Au-Ag PPA)were studied initially. The experiment results showed that the annealing treatment had aneffect on the optical and nonlinear optical properties of the Au-Ag PPA.
