Investigation and assessment for source separation of household kitchen waste wasconducted, this evaluation provided that between125-180g of kitchen waste aregenerated per family/day. The use of a kitchen waste disposer showed cost economics interms of water consumption, electrical energy consumption and that crushed kitchenwaste could be discharged directly into the sewer along with other waste water streamsfor a decentralized treatment. The co-digestion of Black water and Kitchen waste at amix ratio of1:1(BW50%: KW50%) produced highest methane yield of2913.6mL at550C, with BMP737.8mLCH4/gTS-add compared to co-digestion of brown water withkitchen waste and single digestion of the brown water, black water and the kitchenwaste. In addition, in this study, the performance of a serial CSTR reactor operated at55oC showed much efficiency in biogas yield and organic matter removal compared tothe single CSTR operated at thermophilic and mesophilic temperature, this might be asa result of the extra biogas production from the residual VFA decomposition andresidual organic matter present in the effluent of the main reactor, the second reactor isan effluent polishing methanogenic reactor.
