In this paper, the CO coupling preparation to dimethyl oxalic (DMO) reactionwas studied, and through the improvement of the catalyst, the use of monolithiccatalyst and raschig ring catalyst were studied respectively, the catalyst preparationconditions and the coupling reaction process conditions were researched. The cordierite carriers were impregnated and heated for different time. From theBET results I found the specific surface area and pore structure change with nitricacid treatment time. The different catalysts were applied in the CO coupling withmethyl nitrite to dimethyl oxalate reaction by the gradientless reactor. According tothe conversion of the methyl nitrite and selectivity of dimethyl oxalate, I optimizedthe catalyst preparation condition. Base on the experiment, we can prepare the catalystwith definite specific surface in other reaction. The raschig ring Pd/Al2O3catalysts were prepared by means of impregnation.Three groups of equivalent catalyst were reduced in liquid phase, liquid phasefollowed by gas phase and gas phase respectively. The three groups of catalysts wereused to do the CO coupling with methyl nitrite (MN) to dimethyl oxalate (DMO)reaction by the gradientless reactor to get the conversion of MN and the selectivity ofDMO. The catalysts were analyzed by the scanning electron microscopy (SEM).For the process conditions of the coupling reaction, the temperature, spacevelocity and the percentage of MN were investigated, and optimized the best couplingreaction conditions.
