Quinoline base mainly refers to quinoline, isoquinoline and its derivatives withthe boiling point of160~270°C. Quinoline base is a naphthalene-shaped nitrogenousheterocyclic compound with one nitrogen atom. It is an important material for organicsynthesis, which can be used in the pharmaceutical, dye manufacture and as rawmaterial of photographic photopigment. It can also be used to make rubbervulcanization accelerator, flotation agent, pickling inhibitor, pesticides and otherindustrial products. Quinoline base has a great variety, and each refined product has awide range of applications. Finding the right method of separating quinoline basefrom the wash oil has both important practical significance and broad prospects forapplication. This paper deals with the recovery and refinery of quinoline base throughthe countercurrent extraction, ammonia neutralization decomposition, intermittentdistillation, and the establishment of the recovery and purification process ofquinoline base in wash oil.The composition of wash oil is complicated, with numerous components. Firstly,this paper built the gas chromatography analysis method for wash oil and quinolinebase. The chromatographic conditions are: hydrogen flame detector, gasificationchamber temperature of260°C, testing room temperature of260°C, temperatureprogramming as column temperature.Through the extraction agent and diluent selection experiments, the optimalextraction agent and diluent in the extraction process were determined. The suitableextraction conditions obtained by the selection experiments are: sulfuric acid asextraction agent, ammonium sulfate as diluent, keeping a10%overdose for extractantbased on the reaction ratio of extractant and raw material, extraction temperature of40°C. The reaction step was determined to be the control step in the reactionextraction process.Through continuous countercurrent reactive extraction, the optimal operatingconditions of extraction tower were determined:10%wt sulfuric acid as extractionagent,10%wt ammonium sulfate as diluent, extractant based on the reaction ratio ofextractant and raw material controlling the feed flow rate under the flooding velocity, normal temperature; equilibrium stage model of countercurrent reactive extractionprocess was established; the results of extraction were estimated and the estimatedvalues were consisted with the experimental data, which can provide theoreticalinstruction for industrialization.Through the experiment of batch distillation, the crude quinoline base obtainedfrom neutralizing decomposition was refined by distillation. Through the comparasionbetween the results of analog computation of ProII simulation software and theexperiment, NRTL thermodynamic method is found to be suitable to this system,which can provide theoretical foundation for industrialization. Through the simulationcalculation, the crude quinoline base refining unit of a plant was reformed andachieved the desired effect.
