Special-shaped parts such as camshaft are the key component of engine valvemechanism, textile machine and automatic production line and so on. The machining accuracy,productivity and surface roughness are highly demanded, which promote the development ofthe grinding technique. The grinding carriage is the key component of the camshaft grinder.The better performance of the dynamic character of the grinding carriage is needed in order tosolve the problems of profile deviation, roughness and waviness. The structure style of thespindle and the tracking capability of the feed system should be paid more attention to.Aiming at the problems mentioned above, the grinding carriage of the high-speed andhigh-precision CBN grinding machine is researched based on the analysis of the latestresearch and application of camshaft grinder at home and abroad.The following aspects are included, such as the kinematics analysis of constant linearvelocity in camshaft grinding, analysis and simulation of the grinding force, the structuredesign, strength and mode analysis of the grinding carriage.First of all, the kinematics model of constant linear velocity of the camshaft grinding isset up. The cam profile is analyzed. The relationship between cam angle and the grindingcarriage displacement is achieved based on the spline interpolation of the cam profile. And thegrinding wheel displacement, velocity and acceleration are derived. Also the linear motorselection is realizable.Secondly, the grinding status of the grit is analyzed based on probability and statistic.The dynamics model of the grit in high speed grinding is realized by the finite elementmethod. On this foundation the grinding force is achieved and the build-in motor selectioncould be carried out.At last, the grinding carriage scheme is completed based on the kinematic analysis and the grinding force calculation. The strength of the key components is checked based on theANSYS software which can ensure the rigidity of the grinding carriage and realize thelightweight design. And the models of vibration of the grinding carriage are analyzed in orderto eliminate its effect to the grinding quality.
