This article is the experimental study for a new cyclone called the Radial Jet Cyclone,which is a patent invented by Professor Liu Genfan. Because of the unique structure ofthe cyclone, there are18structural parameters,4dust physical parameters and3gasparameters affecting the clone’s separation efficiency and pressure drop performance. As aresult,it takes much time and energy to study the performances of the Radial Jet Cycloneby experiences. And theoretically,it is impossible to study so many factors in a short time.As a result,in this paper,we use orthogonal experimental method to study theinfluence of four factors to the Separation efficiency and pressure drop. Considering theprevious studies and the theoretical calculations to the Radial Jet Cyclone,the four factorsare:the inlet velocity,the dust concentration of the gas,the helix angle of the blade and thelength of the exit tube.The results show that: at the condition of the Optimal combination of the orthogonalexperiences,the cyclone effectively improve the separation efficiency of Pulvis Talci to99.15%,and the average particle size of Pulvis Talci is4μm. The greatest advantage of theRadial Jet Cyclone is the effective improvement of capturing the fine particles.Meanwhile,the results also show that the pressure drop of the Radial Jet Cyclone is higher, reaching1700Pa compared with the regular cyclones.Besides,when the inlet velocity increases,the separation efficiency and pressuredropes are also increase. And the Radial Jet Cyclone has a higher separation efficiency inthe case of low dust concentration. And when the length of the exit tube increase,it canmake the separation efficiency decrease, but make the pressure drop first increase and thendecrease. As the helix angle of the helical blade angle decreases, the separation efficiencyand pressure drop of the Radial Jet Cyclone increase. Therefore, we get the best operatingconditions of the Radial Jet Cyclone are: the helix angle of the blade is between20°to30°,the length of the exit tube is50mm,the Inlet velocity is25~30m/s and the dustconcentration is less than10g/m3. As a result, the Radial Jet Cyclone is suitable for using asthe second and third separate devices.
