The concept of “Automobile Shredder Residue” generated in theactual operation running of end-of-life vehicle recycling industry. In thecurrent scrapped s processing route, after removing the tires, vehicle door, fuel tanks, airbags, engine and gearbox, the automobile shell is compressedinto a certain size of the fragments. After recovering metals from debris, the remaining material is referred to as “Automobile Shredder Residue”.Through a series of experiments, this article explores the physical andchemical characteristics of typical China ASR samples. Carbon and iron, aluminum elemental are of the highest contents. Moisture content is ofbetween1-2.6%. Ash content is between40-70%. ASR contains hundredsof volatile substances, the calorific value is10-21MJ/kg.Pyrolysis technology has become the most recognized technology inprocessing ASR. Through physicochemical analysis and thermalgravimetric analysis of the collected China ASR, this paper explores theoptimal pyrolysis temperatures of China ASR to guide the research ofpyrolysis equipments. The optimal pyrolysis temperature is320-510°C.When the heating rate accelerates, optimal temperature also arises.By pyrolysis kinetic studies, this paper calculates the pyrolysiskinetics factor of each sample and describes a method to calculate thepyrolysis behavior of more complicated mixtures. Through these pyrolysiskinetic studies, this paper provides theoretical guidance for developingsuitable pyrolysis equipments of China.
