As we all know, hot rolled steel strip is an important steel product, and is widely used in many fields. The production of the strip has had a great progress in the nearly past half century. In the process of the strip hot rolling, the strip temperature is the determining factor which affects the precision in the strip dimension and the mechanics performance directly. It is an effective way to predict the steel properties by calculating the strip temperature field in the strip steel production. Therefore, it is significant and useful by studying the temperature variation in the rolling process and the temperature field in the work piece.The work of this dissertation developed a common temperature field simulation system for the whole line of hot strip mill by using the finite element method(FEM), and offered referenced data for the prediction of microstructure and properties. The main work involved as follows:1) A2-demesion temperature model for hot rolling is developed by FEM, considering boundary condition of the processes. The temperature increase caused by the deformation and friction in hot rolling, and the changes of thermo-mechanical parameters were considered. According to the practicable production line, and calculates the cooling time when the strip stays in each zone and then simulates temperature field of the whole-line on cross section of the strip. The simulation results according to the practicable production line reflected the temperature variation in strip hot rolling exactly.2) A software was developed by Visual C++6.0, and named TS-HSM V.3.0(Temperature Simulation of Hot strip mill3.0). This software has friendly HMI and a few kinds of interfaces between the software and the user. The user can easily choose the rolling parameters and use or save the data. The temperature curve will be shown on the output part of the software.3) Simulating the temperature field of the hot strip through all line according to some parameters of one hot strip line. And analyzing the affect caused by cooling strategy.4) The reason why difference of temperature between the edge and the center of the strip after laminar cooling was analyzed and the shelter-control process was simulated. At last, the work obtained a result about the relationship between the temperature field and the value of the shelter-width and the number of shelter device used.
