As an important part of the advanced steel making product process in the world, the ladle furnace (LF) is a kind of secondary smelting equipment which adds deoxidant and alloy to the molten steel to deoxygenate, desulphurize and uniform the component, in order to smelt high quality and special type steel. The ladle furnace steel making consumes plentiful electric power, so the research on the LF power-supply characteristic and the establishment of a reasonable power-supply strategy has a theoretical and practical significance in the lower cost and high efficiency production. The paper makes emphases on the analysis of the LF power-supply characteristic and the power-supply curve optimization principle, introducing the present state and perspective of LF power-supply strategy from the beginning of the equipments, the technique and the history of development of LF steel-making on the basis of consulting a great deal of documents. It makes clear that the research of LF power-supply strategy is a significant direction of the field of LF research.Based on the analysis of the prevalent methods of LF power-supply strategy, according to the demand of electro thermal characteristic of Ladle Furnace and smelting process characteristic for power supply optimization, the paper takes four important factors in the process of steel-making into account. Starting from the energy conservation law, and according to the characteristics of the production process of LF, the paper establishes a nonlinear multi-objective optimization model, the minimization of electricity consumption, refined time, electrode consumption and furnace lining consumption. The optimization model can overcome the shortcoming for gaining the least electricity consumption and making refined time become long, avoid the shortage for gaining the least refined time and making the electricity consumption become large, as well as the influence of the electrode consumption and furnace lining consumption. Based on the practical data of the120-Ton Ladle Furnace of Tonghua Steel Group, and constrains are handled by the methods of flexible constrains and Rigid constraint. Aim at the multi-objective optimization problem, the voltage and current value are solved by the method of AEPSO. The calculating electricity consumption and power factor are fit for request, and have guiding significance for practical production.
