Epoxy Resin(EP) showed good electronics, corrosion resistance, mechanical properties and processing. However, Cured epoxy resin hadbad heat-resisting and poor toughness limit, and its development andapplication in lots of high technologies to a certain extent. Bismaleimide(BMI) had superior thermal stability and fatigue resistance at highhumidity. BMI with good high-resistence, radiation and heat-resistencecould be reacted with diamine like EP, and the comprehensiveperformance of the cured system could be improved by the form ofinterpenetrating network (IPN) structure. The structure and properties ofco-cured systems of BMI/Aromatic diamine/E-54had been researched inthe paper in order to obtain excellent composite material and wide itsrange of application in the many domains.Based on the thenolphthalein, novel bismaleimide containingphenolphthalein (BMI) was obtained via for four-step reactions includingnucleophilic substitution reaction, reduction reaction, acylation reactionand cyclization-dehydration reaction. Bismaleimide containingphenolphthalein had been synthesized and characterized by FT-IR,H1-NMR, DSC, TG. The results indicated that the resultant possessedhigh yield, high purity, and had excellent heat-resisting,high meltingpoint, excellent solubility and extensive processing range. The curing process parameters of BMI/DDM/E-54andBMI/DDM/E-54were studied by DSC. The apparent activation energy ofmodified systems were obtained, based on the Kissinger method Ozawamethod. According to Crane theory, both of the curing reaction order wasnot more than0.9which proved that the two curing systems weremultistage reaction.Through the mechanical property test, the result showed that tensilestrength and impact strength of the system of BMI/DDM/E-45and thesystem of BMI/DDS/E-45had the trend from increase to descrease withthe increasing content of BMI. Tensile strength of BMI/DDM/E-45cameto the maximum when the content of BMI was10%while impact strength was came to maximum when BMI was5%.Tensile strength ofBMI/DDS/E-45was up to maximum when the content of BMI was5%while impact strength was up to maximum when BMI was10%.The thermal property of two curing systems was studied by DSC andTG. The results indicated the TG of the BMI/DDM/E-54system werefirstly improved and then induced when the content of BMI wasincreased. The Tgof the curing system of BMI/DDM/E-54was higher to12℃than the pure expoxy system. The TG of curing system ofBMI/DDS/E-54had the same variation tendency. But the vary of the Tgwas not obvious by the addition of BMI. The carbon yield ratio of the twocuring systems increased with the addition of BMI at600℃. The twomodified systems had excellent thermal stability, and could be used at164℃,196℃in the long-term, respectively.
