Advanced matrix resins are the key and bases for the development and application of polymeric composite materials. Bismaleimide (BMI), a new generation of thermosetting matrices after epoxy resin, has disadvantages of poor solubility in common solvent and brittleness, poor tack and drape of prepregs. In this dissertation, a systematic study on improving solubility and toughness of BDM/DDS(molar ratio of 2-1.5:1) via electron-donor Modifier A and acrylic epoxy ester(AE) resin been made according to the design of molecular of the resin.Using DDS modifing BDM with a small quantity of Modifier A, the prepolymer has good solubility in acetone under room temperature. The effects of the content of Modifier A, polymerization technics, molar ratio of BDM/DDS on molecule structure and solubility were discussed in detail. The result shows prepolymer has optimum solubility when the content of Modifier A is about 6phr(BDM is 100). Its acetone solution can content the need of glue used for preparing prepreg. Additional, soluble mechanism in acetone, prepolymer reaction character and curing mechanism are studied, the optimum condition of the curing technics was determined. After being cured, the hot deformed temperature(HDT) of cured resins are above 300℃, so this modification ways can be compatible between solubility and heat-resistant of BMI.The prepolymer blending with AE resin can increase dramatically its toughness and tack of prepreg under room temperature. As adding the content of AE, flexural strength and impact strength of cured resin increase gradually, but HDT decreases. When the content of AE is 30%, cured resin has favorable integrative performance, and its flexural strength and impact strength are respectively 11.3KJ/m~2, 245 ℃ which can be used as matrix resin of advanced polymeric composite materials. Studying on glass fibre reinforced AE/prepolymer shows: its Tg attends 273℃, flexural strength and laminates interlaminar shear strength are respectively 1600MPa, 92.1MPa under room temperature, and flexural strength and laminates interlaminar shear strength remain severally 67.8%, 63.2% at 180℃, fibre and resin felt well.
